Abel Pliers
For the angler no longer willing to settle for pliers that fail to cut just when you need them most, we offer two sizes of precision machined pliers field-tested for a full season, shop-tested for 1,000 cuts of 80-pound test Monel wire, 100 cuts of 250-pound Nylon-coated braided wire and after that still cut 7X mono with no problem.
The body of the pliers is of a high tensile strength Black Coral anodized aluminum; while the cutting edges are of a replaceable heat-treated, nickel-plated tool steel. The top and bottom replaceable insert jaws slide into and are locked in the jaw channels.
The Abel Model 2 Replaceable Insert Jaw Pliers are designed for all freshwater, bass angling, light saltwater and fly-fishing use. They are capable of bending down the barb on a size 20 dry fly or cutting 175-pound braided wire.
The Abel Model 4 Insert Jaw Pliers are for bluewater anglers. They've been engineered to remove a hook from a marlin or mako shark, cut 250-pound braided wire or any size monofilament line made. The #4 Abel pliers now comes with a 303 stainless steel bottle opener precision nested into the handle. This remarkable innovation spells utter defeat and doom to the standard beer or pop bottle and makes you wonder what those crazy creative people at Abel will think of next.

In a documented and notarized shop test, a 4 Model Pliers made 1,000 consecutive cuts of 80-pound test Monel wire, followed by 100 cuts of 250-pound test Nylon-coated wire and ending with 100 cuts of 250-pound test Nylon-coated braided wire and ending with 100 cuts of 2-pound test fly-fishing leader material.
