Description:
Deceiver, Green/White
Originated in the 1960s by fly-fishing legend Bernard "Lefty" Kreh for striped bass in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. It is effective for over 100 fish species in fresh and saltwater!
Typically thought of as a saltwater baitfish pattern, this pattern in smaller sizes is very effective in freshwater for bass, trout, pike, walleye and other fish. Not all Deceivers are tied to directly imitate baitfish; they are often tied as attractor patterns. The color combination is equally effective as an imitative and attractor pattern.
The wings (long feathers) are tied in at the back half of the fly to give the pattern lots of action with subtle strips pulling the fly upwards and allowing it to sink a few inches before the next line strip.
